School Today:
School, students, curriculum, teachers, and workers current information:
The school today has about 900 students
(boys and girls) from different backgrounds, distributed from the kindergarten
up to the Tawjihi ( grade 12 ) with a staff of 49 male and female teachers.
The school follows the Jordanian curriculum in teaching all subjects; But we
hope that in a couple of years we will have our own Palestinian curriculum.
After completing Grade 12, students can
sit for the Tawjihi exam which is very important for college entrance, or
entrance into local or foreign universities .
(Tawjihi exam is divided into two streams: Literary and scientific ).
The school performance with the Tawjihi
students, who reached the academic level that is required by Bethlehem
university and the West Bank universities is very impressing.
The students learn two foreign languages. English from the 1st grade and German
language from the 3rd grade. Their mother tongue is Arabic. The special program with
England and Germany, and the yearly exchange of students with Germany have
greatly contributed to the encouragement of foreign
language learning.
In addition to the 49 teachers there
are also around 40 workers in the different school sections.
As a Christian school, the school teaches the students to patiently love one
another, and the Christian ways of behavior.
In the year 1995 a center for tourism industry began; 28 students participated in the program with the help of the “Otto Benecke Stiftung e.V” and the Ministry of Education.
Many students of Talitha Kumi have now
become distinguished doctors, teachers, architects, engineers and specialists in all the
fields of work and many good housewives as well.
Many of the couples meet every year on the second Advent at our school. They
celebrate Advent together, sing many old songs, talk about the old times and
receive an update on the latest developments in the school, and they have established
the
Talitha Kumi Graduates Committee, and they all hope that the work will be
continuing.
